Last week we visited a botanical garden in Meise near Brussels, and they had a huge greenhouse with plants from all over the world. One of those plants was the giant water lily (Victoria Amazonica), very impressive ! I had seen it on tv and on photo’s but not in real life.

I think you are a little bit too heavy for that but you can put a small child on the leafs they say.

I have never seen a water lily with curled up edges like that! the water lilies I’ve encountered are more like little circles with flowers on top. Very cool!

I’ve seen these on pictures and in documentaries but never in real life, it was one of the reasons I wanted to visit that specific botanical garden. They also have one of the biggest stinky flower on earth, the titan arum (amorphophallus titanum), flowers only 72 hours,is huge and the stench it produces is that of rotting flesh, it was not in flower when we there, I don’t think I could stand the stench !!!
