NEW LIFE

Outside it’s chilly, windy and wet but it is too warm for Winter so lots of plants and tree’s are starting to grow again. But the problem is that the weather can change for the worse and we can still expect snow and severe frost untill mid May and some years even later. Then all that new life that is growing now will be dead but most plants can grow again later in the year.

My garden looks dull, apart from the evergreens there is nothing to see. I had lots of rosebottles and red berries but they are all eaten by the birds now.

**SKIMMIA, ALWAYS THE FIRST TO BLOOM, HERE THEY ARE STILL IN BUD BUT THEY’LL SOON START TO BLOOM**

**I HAVE 2 OF THESE HUGE AUCUBA BUSHES IN MY GARDEN AND IN WINTER THEY LOOK GOOD BETWEEN ALL THE GREY AND BROWN**

A BIT OF SPRING TODAY

We have a bit of Spring today, tomorrow will be Winter again ha ! But today is sunny and not too cold, when I have a walk in my garden with the dogs I hear a lot of buzzing from bees and bumble bees, I love that sound !! There are a lot of birds looking for nest material. The days are getting longer and I can smell it in the air. We are sure headding in the right direction.

**ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHRUBS ; SKIMMIA KEW GREEN**

When the flowers are open the whole shrub is buzzing, the buds appear in Autumn and soon the buds will open up. Very easy small shrub. Wintergreen and winter hardy, a gem in the garden. There are males and females, so if you want berries you need one of each.

SNOWBALLS

Snowballs made of little white flowers, I think most of you know this bush who is covered with snowball-like flowers in Spring. When they first open the buds of the flowers are lime green and each day they get whiter and whiter.

TODAY IN THE GARDEN

We have such nice weather at the moment, very sunny, bright blue sky, not too cold….what more do you want. I try to enjoy it as much as I can cos colder weather is on its way.

We have a very stubborn tree, our Amelanchier (juneberry) starts blooming every year on April 1st. But as we have had a lot of sun and soft weather we were sure it would bloom earlier this year. Just one little branch has been in bloom for about a week now and the rest is still in bud.
