Hi, I don’t see many rhododendrons in Castlemaine. They are not really suited to the climate of the Central Goldfields here in Victoria. They really like the cooler, wetter climate and rich soils of the Yarra Valley and the Central Highlands.

Yes rhododendrons like it cool and moist, but in your climate you can have so many beautiful special tree’s/shrubs and plants !!! But I was surprised to see you had also frost. I would love to live somewhere that is frostfree !!!

Happy May Day! I love your flowers! I don’t have a rhododendron..they are so pretty, though. Our soil is sandy and it’s pretty dry around the house. So I will just have to sniff yours!

Alas rhodo’s have no perfume, but they are easy to grow, lovely in bloom and wintergreen and that is allways a plus for me. Azalia’s, the rhodo’s who loose their leafs in Autumn ,they smell nice. But you can always come and have a sniff ofcourse 😀
