HELLO AGAIN

Sorry for the long silence but I haven’t been able to take a lot of new photo’s, it’s not really a good garden year cos of the weather, it was either too hot or too wet, and all the heavy rain ruined a lot of my flowers. I do hope next year will be better. I am also trying to make the garden easier to maintain. I did manage to take a few new pictures though.

Garden geranium, one of my favorites

This hydrangea sits next to the pond, as you can see, some of the leafs are burned from the sun.

Crocosmia lucifer

Dipladenia, also called Mandevilla, a climber I got as a gift, it is in a pot as it is not winterhardy here but it performs well.

My passiflora caerulea performs well as the flowers stay open just for one day. there are new flowers all the time, it grows very fast. This one is one of the most winterhardy passionflowers.

This flower is from my albizia julibrissin, the flowers are normally pink but this one is white, I don’t know why.

I hope you al had a better Summer. Take care and enjoy your garden whenever you can.

SOFT WET WINTER

We are having a soft wet Winter this time, we had a few mild frosty nights but that’s all so far, for tomorrow a severe storm is comming our way with lots of rain and very strong winds.

There are lots of plants budding as they think it’s Spring.

THIS SKIMMIA (SKIMMIA KEW GREEN) WILL SOON OPEN IT’S BUDS, AL LOT EARLIER THAN USUAL
AND THIS PASSIONFLOWER PLANT NORMALLY LOOSES MOST OF IT’S LEAFS IN WINTER BUT NOW IT STAYED TOTALLY GREEN AND IT IS ALREADY GETTING NEW LEAFS
MY CORCKSCREW HAZEL (CORYLUS AVELLANA “CONTORTA”) IS COMPLETELY OVERGROWN BY ANOTHER PASSIONFLOWER AT THE MOMENT

WHAT IS STILL BLOOMING IN MY GARDEN TODAY

It definitely is Autumn now, cos of the drought it is early this year. But there still is a lot in bloom right now although you can see the flowers are a bit tired and the leafs are getting brown and yellow here and there. On top of it they had to go without my tlc while I was on holiday in France.

IT’S SEDUM SPECABILE TIME NOW AND I HAVE LOTS OF THEM

On the other hand some plants look tatty, like the ferns, the Amelanchier tree(shadbush or june berry), the lavenders…. But hey, I am not complaining !

I hope you are all well and happy, wherever you are.

ALWAYS PRETTY

Passionflower alias passiflora caerulea is a very easy climber but it selfseeds everywhere in the garden. The caerula is the most winterhardy of them all. The flower is so pretty, they only open for one day and then it starts making the fruit, after a while you get a yellow oval fruit, so you always have buds, flowers, green unripe fruit and yellow ripe fruit. I cut them back really hard each year as they can grow 6 meters long (19 feet) per season. But I love to have it in my garden.

passiflora caerulea or passionflower

This one is growing in an evergreen bush.

Have a great weekend all and thanks for your visit.

PASSION FLOWER GOING WILD

I have 2 passionflower plants in my garden, the passiflora caerulea and the passiflora constance eliott. But the caerulea is comming up everywhere, the birds like to eat from the passionfruit and drop seeds in the garden and  voilà,you have a strong growing new plant, they are everywhere, despite the heathwaves we have had.
