A WEEKEND AWAY

Recently I went a weekend away with my sister, we both needed a bit of peace and quiet but as it was just for 3 days we wouldn’t go too far away. We decided to go to The Netherlands to a place called Vlissingen, it is a small city at the North sea. We had hoped the weather would be rather nice but a few days before we went to Vlissingen the weather forcast changed a lot. Instead of sun and between 18C° and 20C°, we got heavy wind (wind force 7) , a lot of rain and 15C°, but we enjoyed it anyway, we did a lot of reading, talking and enjoying going out for a drinks, lunches and dinners, luckily they were all close by. Nothing spectacular but it was fun. We stayed in a small hotel at the seaside, pretty and comfortable.

The following pictures were taken the last day when the sun was out for a bit, it rained most of the time so I didn’t take a lot of pictures as I don’t like my camera to get wet.

In the middle of this picture you see a tower that used to be a prison, now it is a restaurant.

This guy was the only one in the sea.

I loved this little front garden facing the sea

Here’s another view of the terrace with the cacti

This picture was taken when the storm was gone.

I hope you are all well and happy. Take care !

ROSES

On our recent vacation in France I took a lot of pictures of roses. The roses in my garden did not bloom well this year as the huge amounts of rain and the cold temperatures damaged the flowers, then they rotted. My garden is still pretty green except for the blooms of the garden geraniums.

Have a great weekend and enjoy your garden or balcony. Take care .

AN OLDIE

This is called a sand rose, I found this when we were on holiday in Tunisia, you can find them in the desert but they are for sale in many shops, some are cheap but the really special ones can cost you a few hundred dollars. These rocks are made by the weather conditions in the desert, and are made by sand and gypsum, the water in the dessert dries so fast that these stones are created, how cool is that ?!! Although “cool” is not a good word here as the desert is baking hot !

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND ALL !!!

MY SUN IS ALWAYS SHINING

This sun is always shining in my garden, I bought “her” in Spain a long time ago when we were there on holiday. She must be more than 20 years old.

HAVE A GREAT DAY !

A FEW OLDIES

RANUNCULUS
HELICONIA
CANNA
ORCHIDS
BEGONIA

Mind you, none of these were in my garden, they were all taken on holiday.

Have a great week all and enjoy your garden or balcony.

RANDOM PICTURE

BLUE IRIS IN A BOG

I took a picture of this iris when we were on holiday in the US, we were walking in a nature reserve and there it was, in a bog. I loved it so I tried to paint it.

Have a great weekend all and keep safe !
