MORE SNOW

We got more snow yesterday, I am not amused. It is slippery everywhere, so I stay inside. I ‘m glad I don’t have to work anymore. The highways are open but the smaller roads are a nightmare. The children are very happy as most of them never saw snow before, they love to play in the snow and make snowmen, my little dog loves the snow, when it is rainy I can’t get her out of the house, but snow, oh yes !

Tomorrow a huge storm is predicted with lots of rain so the snow will be gone I think but next week will be very very cold.

I am so looking forward to Spring !

Have a great day and keep safe and warm !

SNOW

We have snow ! For many of you it may be normal to have snow in Winter but we haven’t had snow for many years now, at least not snow that stayed for days. As we are not used to having snow it is a problem over here, especially when you live in a village but even in the cities it is a problem and there are very long traffic jams on the highways. The roads are very slippery and in the hospitals they have their hands full with broken arms and legs or worse. But it is pretty and if you can stay inside a warm house and look in the garden , then it looks fantastic.

Today I took a few pictures for you.

This pot is home to several succulents, luckily they are winter hardy. It stands on the garden table.

Another view in my garden when it was snowing this morning.

A view in the garden.

The holly tree still has a lot of berries, that is because we feed the birds all year round.

Even the verbena bonariensis is still standing.

Apparently we are going to get more snow in the comming days and severe frost, with a severe storm predicted for Friday. It could be rain or snow, I hope it will be rain !! Next week we’ll have “warmer weather” and rain.

Take care and thanks for visiting.

WINTER WONDERLAND

We didn’t get the snowbomb the forcasters thought would come our way, we missed it by a few kilometers, the whole of Belgium was covered in snow up to 25 cm, only a few villages in the north were spared and got noting of it. But the next day we got some, not much, just to cover the garden a bit and turned it into a Winter wonderland. As of tomorrow we’ll get 9 C° and the next days even higher.

Here are a few pictures I took yesterday.

A few plant tables.

Snow on dried flower stalks of the sedum spectabile.

Rose bottles.

Snow on thistles.

I hope you are all ok, wherever you are, some will have snow and ice, others who live in Summer at the moment; enjoy your garden !

A RARE SIGHT

Snow is a rare sight over here, many decades ago we had much more snow as it was a lot colder in Winter. Usually it melts the same day. I took a few pictures in my garden this morning but most of the snow is gone now but there is fresh snow on the way, it could be just a little bit but it can be quite a lot, we’ll see tomorrow. I would have loved to go outside and on the street but there was ice under the snow so it was dangerous, I didn’t want to risk my new knee.

Our beech hedge was covered in snow on the top.

My viburnum bodnantense was covered in pink blooms as we had a very soft Autumn, then all of a sudden the temperatures dropped to -6 C° overnight.

A view in the garden.

A few of my pots covered in snow.

A few of my plant tables.

I took all these pictures from the backdoor as the patio looked like a frozen lake.

Take care ! And enjoy your garden if you live in a warm climate.

SNOWWWW

When we woke up this morning the garden looked completely white, snow white. We don’t get snow often and usually it doesn’t stay for long as the ground is not froozen. A few hours after I took a few pictures of my garden the snow was gone. But my garden looked very pretty in white.

WE HAD SNOW TODAY !

A few days ago we had about 20 C°, today we have 0 C°and snow! Luckily it didn’t stay long as it wasn’t cold enough, so I took a few pictures in the garden early this morning, no sun, no blue sky alas.

The temperature is supposed to go up again slightly but nowhere near the 20 C° we had. You get so easily adjusted to eating outside, enjoying the sun, working in the garden…. it was too sonn but it felt sooo good !!

Have a great weekend !!

EASTER SNOW

Christmas was soft and wet, for Easter we got snow. I wish my plants could speak and tell me how they feel about all this.

It snows and then it melts, then again it snows heavily and then it melts, it’s ok for me but I worry about my plants as they are fragile after some warm weather we had, it is all in bloom or budding and we have frost at night…..

Have a great week all !
