THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN THIS MORNING JULY 17 TH !!

I must add that he is getting a lot of sun as we are having a long hot and dry Summer and hardly any rain, ideal for a cactus.

Yesterday we had a bit of rain, not nearly enough to help end the drought we suffer from at the moment. But I am happy with every drop that we get. We are not used to this kind of tropical temperatures , neither are the gardens over here so the gardens are suffering, a lot of leafs and flowers are burned from the sun.

Have a great day all and thanks for visiting !

BEGONIA FEST

I have no words to describe the beauty of the begonia, they are considered “old fashioned” at the moment but it is such an easy plant, a beautiful plant with beautiful leafs and all sorts of different shapes and colors of flowers. What is  NOT to like ??? They love a shady place but they can stand a bit of sun too if they get enough water. They grow from bulbs, you keep the bulbs dry and frost free during winter and you plant them again in Spring (inside until the frosts have gone), year after year after year. I know an old lady who said she had her begonia bulbs for over 50 years !!!!

I took some pictures for you so you can see for yourselves.

Have a great weekend !!

PS YOU CAN FIND SOME OF MY PICTURES ON SHUTTERSTOCK, THERE IS A LINK FOR THAT ON MY “PAGES”.

A FEW RECENT GARDEN PICTURES

My garden is suffering at the moment, it has been hot and dry for quite a while now, not a drop of rain and my garden is not used to this sort of weather, I water my garden once every 2 or 3 days for as long as we are alloud to do so, some provinces in my country already have heavy water restrictions. I managed to take a few pictures of plants who still look good. A lot of plants and bushes have scorched leafs and look tatty.

SOUVENIR DE FRANCE

Last year we went to the South of France for our vacation. And look what I found ; piece of an old grape stump, it is now sitting pretty on my garden table and each day it reminds me of my beautiful vacation in France. Just imagine how much delicious wine this grape bush produced !??

FUCHSIA,  it is nameless as the shops just sell them under the name “fuchsia”, it is frustrating as I don’t know if it likes shade or sun or if it is winterhardy or not.IMG_2919.JPG

SYRINGA VULGARIS BEAUTY OF MOSCOW, the flowers are snowwhite but the buds are a smokey lilac

IMG_2924.JPG

IRIS PSEUDACORUS or yellow pond iris in the back, the leafs are like swords, they clean the water in the pond, in the front is CALTHA PALUSTRIS, also a good water cleaner, the fishing wire is for keeping the herons from eating our fish.

FIG, my fig tree is comming to life and the figs are growing now, the figs have overwintered as tiny peas so as soon as the weather gets warmer the tiny figs start to grow.

I hope your are all having a wonderful week !
