It is almost the end of May and it is still cold and very wet. Nature is very happy with all the rain ofcourse but flowers and blooms are way behind . Despite all that I do have some flowers in bloom in my garden.

MORE PRUNUS FLOWERS
I can’t believe it is almost mid May. The weather hasn’t been great so far, that is the reason everything started flowering later than usual. It was cold, windy and sunny when I took these pictures.
Today has been soft but we had sun, rain and wind but between the rain it was nice to be outside. I planted some veggies and herbs in the garden. I never have been this late with planting. But as we were told there won’t be nightfrosts anymore I could finally start planting.
Next time I’ll show you what is flowering in my garden.
Have a great week ! Keep safe, we are nearly there !!
EUPHORBIA POLYCHROMAEUPHORBIA CHARIACIASWILD FLOWER
I love yellow flowers in the garden, they brighten the whole garden, even on days when the sun don’t shine.
April was cold and the forcast for the next 2 week isn’t much better, except for the rain that is comming. The garden can do with a lot of rain. But I am looking forward to nice warm days, soon I hope.
MY APPLEBLOSSOM IS FINALLY OPEN TO RECEIVE THE BEE’S FOR POLLINATION.
I have a LOT of appleblossom this year. I have 2 appletree’s, one had no flowers at all last year, they other one just a few, so no apples in the end. This year I am really hopeful. I’ll keep you posted and let you know how it is going as there is a lot that can go wrong. I did give them dried cow’s manure last year, maybe they needed it.
Have a great day and enjoy the sun if you have a sunny day.
When I was walking in my garden I found this little cute viola who selfseeded in a pot with succulents. I couldn’t resist to take a picture of it.
The weather is still too cold for the time of the year but when the sun is out and you find a place out of the cold wind, it is nice to sit in the garden with a cup of tea and look at all the work that still needs to be done….but it’s the little things like this viola that makes me happy as well.
FIRST FIGTHE LEAFS ARE STILL TINY, THEY WILL NEED TIME TO MATURE
I covered my fig during Winter, when we got our first beautiful Spring days I removed the coverings. Then all of a sudden we got a few unexpected nightfrosts and my fig tree took a beating, frozen tiny figs, frozen leafbuds…. But now it is slowly recovering and leafbuds are opening and here and there I finds tiny figs. The one above is the biggest. I fear I won’t have a lot of figs this year, as the first batch were frozen. But hey, my fig tree is still alive !
Spring is cold, too cold for the time of the year with night frosts, rain, snow, sleet, wind….. but it is definitely Spring according to my plants cos once in a while we get lovely sunny and soft days too.
Look what I found in the garden today.
APPLE BLOSSOMBUDS
Apple blossom buds and lots of them. I really hope I’ll get apples this year. Last year I had one apple tree with not a single flower and the other one had just 3 buds but I gave them a lot of food last year so now I have lots of buds. Keep your fingers crossed ! I’ll let you know in Autumn ok.
Well, not really from Amsterdam, I got them from my son. But tulips are known to come from Holland. They originally came from Turkey I think. But there was a time only the very rich could buy 1 or 2 bulbs, they were worth their weight in gold. I think at the moment they are the biggest exporters of tulips and bulbs of all sorts. As we live at the border with the Netherlands I go there often for shopping and flowers , food and clothes are a lot cheaper in The Netherlands. Alas alas in this covid era we are not allowed to cross the border just for shopping and I miss that a lot.
